GSA Amends FMR to Clarify Home-to-Work Transportation Policy

The General Services Administration has issued a final rule amending the Federal Management Regulation to clarify existing home-to-work transportation policy. Specifically, this rule updates and clarifies FMR Part 102-5's coverage by revising FMR 102-5.20(a), to exclude employees who use a passenger carrier in conjunction with official travel, including temporary duty, and FMR 102-5.20(c), to exclude employees who use a passenger carrier for transportation between places of employment and mass transit facilities. Additionally, the rule adds a cross-reference to FMR 102-34.210, which addresses when a government motor vehicle may be used for transportation between places of employment and mass transit facilities. For the text of the rule, effective July 20, 2010, see ¶72,500.55.
