An Export Administration Regulations final rule issued by the Bureau of Industry and Security addresses BIS' plan to eliminate the paper versions of most license-related documents. The rule impacts export and reexport licenses, notices of denial of license applications, notices of return of a license application without action, notices of results of classification requests, License Exception AGR notification results, and encryption review request results. Previously, BIS issued these license-related documents electronically through the Simplified Network Application Processing Redesign system and on paper. However, BIS now intends to discontinue issuing the paper version of these documents. BIS will continue to use paper documents when it authorizes a paper submission, when it must reissue a license-related document because it reopened a matter previously considered to be completed, and in certain other paper-based processes.
