IntelliConnect Tracker functionality enhanced with new Report Letter feature

IntelliConnect’s Tracker function e-mails report letters to subscribers upon publication of each report letter. The Tracker has been enhanced to provide the following:

Report letters sent in full text instead of a summary.
One report letter per e-mail. The e-mail will have the report letter title in the subject line, and the full text of the report letter will be in the body of the e-mail. Previously, Tracker sent one e-mail containing all of your report letters for that day. Also, the subject line said “Tracker News” with no indication of the report letter title(s).
Table of contents listing the story headlines is included. Links in the table of contents also take you to the full story in IntelliConnect. Previously, Tracker sent the summary of each story with no table of contents.

Loislaw service enhanced

The Loislaw online research service has been enhanced to better suit the needs of large law firms. Loislaw now offers the following capabilities:

Sharing of search results. Multiple documents and search results—as well as results from a GlobalCite or Find Cases by Citation search—can all be printed, saved and e-mailed.
Search for multiple case citations at once. Find Cases by Citation has been enhanced to allow you to input multiple citations and pull cites from documents with both text and case cites (e.g., an adversary’s brief).
Customized Smart Start Page only shows your firm’s Loislaw subscriptions.
Find A Case Widget lets you search all Loislaw case law by citation, case name or keyword. Because the widget is installed within your firm’s portal, there’s no need to navigate to a Website, log in or select a database before searching.

Regulation of Securities: SEC Answer Book treatise added to Topic Navigator

Regulation of Securities: SEC Answer Book by Steven Mark Levy can now be searched using Topic Navigator. Topic Navigator is a topically-organized tool for locating related information across multiple publications, available to subscribers of the CCH Federal Securities Law Reporter and many Aspen securities resources.

New Smart Chart on Takeover Disclosure Laws and Regulations for Blue Sky Law Reporter

This Smart Chart answers with a "yes" or "no" the question "does a state have takeover disclosure laws and regulations?" For those states having takeover disclosure laws or takeover disclosure laws and regulations, the links to the full text documents will be provided. Smart Charts is the research tool that allows you to compare topics and the answers to questions among multiple jurisdictions.

Training tip for IntelliConnect:

How can I automatically replace a search results tab with a new set of results? (so that I don't get prompt to delete a tab when I hit limit of 5 search results tabs)

Turn Auto Tabs OFF (icon is located on the upper right margin, under Search Options). Any subsequent search will automatically replace the contents of the current tab.

Training tip for Loislaw:

Why is it that after copying and pasting a selection of text into the Loislaw Find Cases by Citation box, the number of retrieved cases often does not match the number of case citations entered?

Most likely the results list is correct. Two possible reasons for this "apparent" discrepancy are:

1) Many cases have more than one citation number: an official and a parallel citation. For example: 384 U.S. 436 and 86 S.CT. 1602 are the citations for the case Miranda v. Arizona. If you input both cites into the Find Cases by Citation box only one case will be retrieved. (There would be little purpose to show the Miranda case twice on our results list.) Legal writing rules require the inclusion of all citations when referencing case law, so anytime you copy and paste text from briefs, treatises or cases into the Find Cases by Citation box fewer results than citations entered are likely.

2) Sometimes multiple cases have the exact same citation. Often short or one-line cases such as "cert. denied" or "appeal denied" will all be listed in case reporters on one page so that all of those cases have the same citation. For example: inputting the NY state case citation 16 N.Y.2d 614 into the Find Cases by Citation box retrieves two cases. So you may retrieve more results than citations entered in some instances.
