New Smart Chart for State Inheritance, Estate and Gift Tax Reporter-Internet
Multistate Transfer Tax Laws Smart Chart helps estate planners and others determine how a client’s estate will be impacted by state law. Prior to the Economic Growth and Tax Reconciliation Act of 2001(EGTRRA), most states’ transfer tax laws were tied to the federal estate tax law. With the passing of EGTRRA, however, the federal state death tax credit was eliminated. Confronting a loss of revenue as a result, many states have de-coupled from the federal system and set up their own transfer tax systems. The result is a confusing array of state tax schemes as states took different de-coupling approaches.
The Smart Charts provide information on which states, in addition to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, impose inheritance, estate, gift and generation–skipping transfer taxes and whether or not their transfer taxes are tied to the pre-EGTRRA Internal Revenue Code Sections 2011 (estate tax) and 2604 (generation-skipping transfer tax).

How do I turn off the Thesaurus?
You can disable the CCH Legal Thesaurus for a single search by clicking Search Tools and uncheck the Thesaurus box. To turn off the Thesaurus as a default setting, click on Preferences, click Set Search Options tab, uncheck Thesaurus box and then click Apply Changes to save these settings as your new personal defaults for all future searches within CCH Internet Research NetWork.
