General Services Administration Acquisition Manual—coming June 2009

For the first time, CCH is offering the General Services Administration Acquisition Manual in a convenient softcover book. Included is the full text of the General Services Acquisition Regulation (48 CFR 500-599) and related agency guidance in a fully integrated format that follows the numbering system of the Code of Federal Regulations. This edition incorporates all GSAM changes issued through May 6, 2009.

Enhancements to Loislaw online legal research service

In response to requests from large law firms, the Loislaw service is being enhanced to provide the following:

Ability to print, email or save one or more documents, as well as search results, GlobalCite results and Find A Case results.
Find A Case enhancement lets the user input multiple citations into Find A Case at once and pull cites from documents with both text and case cites (e.g., an adversary’s brief).
Only products purchased by the firm are displayed.
Case Law Widget for searching all Loislaw case law by citation, case name, keyword search or advanced search through an easy-to-install widget within the firm’s portal. The widget is free with a subscription to any Loislaw primary law product.

Global Climate Change Law Guide to add new regions

The Global Climate Change Law Guide is an online service that gives the legal requirements and obligations for emissions trading schemes and other interrelated laws of key regions and countries from around the world.

The Guide is an essential tool for anyone involved in the implementation and management of emissions trading and related programs, and meeting legal and reporting obligations. Users select a country or region to quickly access the local carbon trading and greenhouse gas laws and regulations and their accounting implications.

Quick Tip for CCH Internet Research NetWork

Want to print out a wide-format chart?

Some tables/charts within CCH Internet Research NetWork are wider than 8.5 x 11 paper and require some special handling to print out. Here are instructions for printing wide tables/charts:

Open a table/chart on CCH Internet Research NetWork (such as Blue Sky Finding List charts, or Multistate Payroll Guide Table 5.03 ).
Click Print (from within CCH document tool bar, underneath Store Doc), which opens a new browser window with table/chart contents, and click Cancel when prompted to continue printing.
Copy all contents within the new browser window (Control/A to select all, and Control/C to copy).
Launch Microsoft Word and open a new document.
Change document format - File > Page Setup > select Paper tab & choose Legal > select Margins tab & choose Left=.8 & Right=.5 and Orientation = Landscape > click OK to save settings.
Paste contents of clipboard (Control/V).
Select all (Control/A) and change font to Courier New and size = 9.
Print/Save this new Word document containing table/chart.

Quick Tip for Loislaw

What's the fastest way to find all materials that reference a particular case, law or regulation?

After you've retrieved a case, law or regulation within Loislaw, take advantage of the GlobalCite function which automatically searches Loislaw’s entire collection of databases (even if outside of your subscription, at no additional cost!). GlobalCite provides a categorized results list of all material that cite the current or 'active' document, and can help you determine whether a case is still good law.

From any document, click the GlobalCite command (in the lower left corner of your Loislaw screen) to open the GlobalCite results pane. You'll see the total number of citing documents, listed by content type. You can sort cases in ascending/reverse chronological order, drill down to a specific court, and view case treatment terms highlighted in blue.
